Captured Expression

For those of you that wonder what is REALLY so much different about what we do at Classic Kids Photography, let me tell you why we love our job SOOOOOOOOO much.

We love your kids.

No, I mean it.  We truly LOVE your kids!

We work, and monkey around, and make silly noises, and sweat, and laugh, and tickle and squish, and help—all to bring out your little nugget’s personality.  And we don’t stop at one photo.  We want you to have ALL the different facets of their smiles, pouts, giggles, and silliness.  We won’t stop until we are satisfied.

I know that this means that your choices are tougher at the proof viewings…but it’s also why we sit down to help you decide.  You’ll never be stranded or left feeling overwhelmed because we won’t let you leave with something second-rate.  It’ll be the BEST one if it’s only one…. and well, if we end up falling in love with nine?  You get a blog posting. 🙂

This little darling still brings us such joy months later.  We love her and she brings us so much happiness–and these photos will do the same for you.   I think the difference in all of our work is the love.  I’m pretty sure you’ll all be seeing the sparkle now in our love.Rosen_9-set

Album Cover by Classic Kids

We haven’t seen these boys in a while, but these photos still stand out to me!

I’ll call them the Classic Kids band.  This is their album cover.

Clearly with photos like these, they’d immediately go platinum.

I imagine their type of music would be very hip-groove-rock, and at some point on the album there would be a KILLER rock-ballad to make all the girls swoon.  Dietrich_set

The group shot just reminds me so much of a cool band photo.  Think drumsticks instead of lollipops and then you’re there.  LOVE!  It shows all their personalities in one moment.

Ready for Summer

It is TIME that the weather turns in our favor.  In protest of the incoming snow tomorrow (it’s March, for crying out loud!)…I am posting a favorite photo of mine from the Hamptons and trying to encourage Mother Nature to follow my lead.

I call this one “Sun Dance”  ……..and I’m hoping it keeps the snow away.marchVID_0690

Family Photos from 2012

If you’ve ever heard me say that I want to use one of your photos for the blog, I really DO mean it.  I feel it’s a poor excuse to say that I’m too busy, but the truth is such. My computer is chock full of scans that I had requested and I feel so lucky that I found all these amazing shots that were meant for posting!

Needless to say…I’m correcting the situation from 2012.

Here are some fabulously WONDERFUL, AMAZINGLY sweet, laugh-out-loud, make you say AWWWWW kinds of photos.  I’ve loved these photos for so long, it’s time that you enjoy them too.

As we make our transition into being a digital only studio…I thought it would be wonderful to see the past and look through the archives.  Everyone must be so much bigger now!

The Lovie Project

I was born on February 3rd, 1980.  My great-aunt gave my parents a pink blanket to swaddle me and take me home from the hospital.  It is a gift that has never left my side.

Yes, I’m 34.                     Yes, it still comforts me when I’m sad.

This was my best friend growing up.  I took it everywhere.  I hid it when my mom came looking to wash it (it smelled “wrong” when it came out of the washing machine). I cried when I thought it was lost.  My parents HATED it after a while.

This is me with my pink blanket:

I feel very fortunate to have a “lovie” and a family that loves me in spite of it.  And a husband who won’t complain if the rags come out of hiding to give me a boost of love.

Not everyone is lucky enough to have one.  Some children who are in shelters are missing this key piece of childhood.  We are starting a campaign to help donate new lovies to those who need them.  Everyone deserves to have a lovie.

The Lovie Project is for someone like me. And you.  And your kids.  You probably know exactly which stuffed animal, blanket, toy  that fits into this category. I needed my blanket immortalized, and made a 20×24″ canvas for my NYC apartment. It’s the best piece of modern art that I own.  A great ice-breaking conversation piece.
20110329-DSC_7621We are having a party tomorrow, on Valentine’s Day (of course) to immortalize your lovies. FREE cocoa and cookies to have a fabulously comforting time.  Donate a new lovie to The Coalition for the Homeless here in NYC and get your lovie(s) photographed for free!

10% of all print sales all across the country will be donated to The Primo Shelter.Lovie_5x7_Front Lovie_E_5x7_Back

See you tomorrow!

Plus a HUGE thank you to The Chirping Moms, NY Metro Parents, MeMyselfandBabyI, Design For MiniKind and more who helped share this amazing cause!

And Baby makes Five

It’s no secret that we can’t help but make friends in random places.

We’ve met you, our lovely friends and clients, in chit-chatty places like Starbucks lines…cool spaces like Kidville…charity events at movie theaters like HelpUsAdopt.org …from having parties for “Mom’s Night Out”…from referrals by people like you…at a store like Giggle when shopping for nieces…and I could think of so many more!

So when ABC’s Good Morning America called us for an interview…it was not surprising that we made friends right away.  And we couldn’t take photos with Paula’s pregnant tummy without having her come back to see the new life she brought into the world.

The Quiet MomentsWe were lucky to get to know her whole amazing family and capture quiet moments like this that could just go ON and ON forever. Three weeks old and already a star.

We met the proud siblings that fought over who would hold him…Snuggles

…we saw dreamy smiles…

smiley guy….created silly poses (p.s. this pose is NOT PhotoShopped)…E_006869_140130…we used Dad’s loving arms for soothing…

E_006778_140130…and we didn’t want to breathe to spoil moments like these!E_006847_140130

All in all, it is a rare treat to share special moments with our amazing families.  We cherish each and every second.  It is a gift to be a part of a family history; to create heirloom portraits that will live on your walls for a lifetime or longer.

Stop on in the studio to meet us at anytime!  We can’t wait to meet new friends.

xoxo Lindsay May

Sweet Sibling Love

We’ve known these lovely kids since Big Sister was only 8 months old.  It’s crazy how time flies these days.  It’s amazing that they grow so fast…they giggle so sweetly…and they love each other so much.  We feel so lucky to be a small part of their family history.FINE_080157_131127

Good Morning America!

It’s not every day that you get interviewed by a national news team. In the midst of our crazy holiday season here at Classic Kids, Good Morning America came to our studio to give families some advice on taking the perfect photo for the holidays.

gmacaptureThat adorable family had some great photos from the photo session to use for their card! Boy oh boy did we have fun!  Thanks to Paula Faris for a great interview!

Somehow they got my maiden name, so my dad was excited to see Schneider again.  🙂
